C2i is the fruit of a long-standing partnership of more than 20 years between the LKS Faculty of Medicine of the University of Hong Kong (HKUMed) and the Institut Pasteur, two major institutions combining their expertise to establish this centre of excellence.

The Centre for Immunology and Infection Limited has been designated by the Innovation and Technology Commission as a Designated Local Research Institution (DLRI) in the fields of virology, immunology, public and environmental health, infectious diseases, therapeutic interventions, and diagnostics.
