As a Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) alumni, C2i's Principal Investigator Professor Leo Poon received this year’s ‘Distinguished Alumni’ award, created to recognise HKBU alumni scholastic or professional outstanding achievements and inspire students.
HKBU specifically underlined Professor Poon’s work in the discovery of the novel coronavirus that caused Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS), as well as his research during the Covid-19 pandemic, leading him to work as an expert along Hong-Kong government as well as the World Health Organization (WHO).
